Welcome back to my channel today we're making sweet and sour chicken. This recipe is a popular dish that you may know from your local Chinese takeout. It consists of crispy chicken in a delicious sauce. Let's get started!
To make this recipe, you will need one pound of chicken breast or chicken thighs, bell pepper, and half an onion. We will start by marinating and coating the chicken, then deep fry it. The final step is to stir fry everything together.
First, marinate the chicken with cooking wine, white pepper, salt, and egg white. Set it aside for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare the deep-fried coating by mixing corn starch, all-purpose flour, salt, water, and egg yolk. Pour the cornstarch mixture into the chicken marinade and mix until each piece is covered. Add oil before deep frying for a crispy coating.
Next, make the sweet and sour sauce by combining ketchup, soy sauce, sugar, vinegar, corn starch, and water. Set it aside.
Deep fry the chicken in medium-hot oil for 3 minutes, then remove from the oil. Heat the oil to 400 degrees and deep fry the chicken again for 1 minute until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oil and set aside.
In a wok, heat oil and stir fry onion for 1 minute, then add the bell pepper and stir fry for 30 seconds. Pour in the sweet and sour sauce and let it thicken. Add the fried chicken and toss everything together until the sauce evenly covers all chicken pieces.
Now it's time to enjoy! The chicken is crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and the sauce is delicious. I hope you enjoy this recipe and I will see you in the next one.
